Syrian-Bahraini talks on boosting cooperation in search and rescue, and occupational safety

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed al-Saleh, has met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Damascus, Wahid Mubarak Sayyar, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in search and rescue operations, occupational safety, and technical and training exchanges.

The two officials explored the possibility of collaboration on the implementation of the National Mine Clearance Center, which the ministry plans to launch soon. This comes in response to the presence of over 1,700 square kilometers of Syrian territory contaminated by landmines and remnants of war.

Minister al-Saleh underlined the importance of developing the ministry’s teams to confront major challenges in coordination with Bahrain, particularly in search and rescue operations, occupational safety, and mine clearance efforts. He also highlighted the value of leveraging Bahrain’s expertise in these fields.

For his part, Ambassador Sayyar expressed Bahrain’s readiness to offer advanced training programs for Syrian civil defense personnel, including response strategies for aircraft fires, airport incidents, and banking facilities. These programs aim to enhance national preparedness and safeguard vital infrastructure.
