Higher Education Minister, CBS Governor discuss strengthening academic infrastructure for financial sector

Damascus, SANA-Dr. Marwan Halabi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, met Sunday with Dr. Abdel Qader Husariya, Governor of the Central Bank of Syria (CBS), to discuss joint cooperation in establishing a national academy for financial and banking sciences and training specialized personnel to support banks and financial institutions.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry in Damascus, Minister Halabi outlined the possibility of establishing the academy in accordance with applicable regulations.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to an educational and competitive framework that covers all regions of the country to promote sustainable development and enhance competitiveness in academic output.

He further stated that the Ministry supports the creation of specialized programs that meet the needs of the labor market.
For his part, Dr. Husariya highlighted the challenges facing the banking sector and pointed to the potential for offering banking sciences courses while leveraging university academic expertise to strengthen financial institutions.
