Minister of Social Affairs and Labor: Lifting economic sanctions offers hope for recove

Damascus, SANA-Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Hind Kabawat, said that lifting economic sanctions on Syria offers hope for recovery and allows the government to begin dealing with difficult tasks, including combating corruption and repatriating millions of refugees to their homes.”

“The steps taken by the United States and the European Union last week to lift most of the sanctions imposed on Syria over decades, even temporarily, will allow this work to begin,”

Minister Kabawat told the American Associated Press in an interview

She added “We were talking and making plans, but nothing could be achieved on the ground because the sanctions were hindering everything and restricting our work, with them lifted, we can now move to the implementation phase.”

Minister Kabawat explained that “easing sanctions will take some time to show its impact on the ground, especially since easing some financial restrictions will involve complex bureaucracy,” adding “We are proceeding step by step. We have many challenges, and we must be optimistic.”
