Tourism: Lifting sanctions on Syria is a step towards reviving tourism sector

Damascus, SANA-Tourism Minister Mazen al-Salhani stressed that the decision to lift economic sanctions on Syria holds promising prospects for enhancing opportunities to restore tourism investment and deepen regional cooperation in this field, and it is an important step towards reviving the tourism sector, which is one of the cornerstones of the national economy.

Minister al-Salhani told SANA reporter: Lifting US sanctions on Syria represents a strategic turning point with a significant impact on the tourism sector, opening the door for investors to launch new projects.

The Minister added: This decision opens broader horizons for regional and international cooperation, as Syria can play a pivotal role in developing joint tourism with brotherly countries, benefiting from its geographical location and ancient cultural heritage that makes it a unique tourist destination.

The Minister of Tourism pointed out that these steps represent a real start towards building a prosperous future for Syria, through which economic and social stability is achieved, and that Syrian tourism is restored to its natural position among tourist countries.

Moreover, the lifting of sanctions reflects international recognition of Syria’s status and gives it a real opportunity to regain its vital role in the regional and international economy.
