Damascus, SANA-Minister of Agriculture ,Dr. Amjad Badr,discussed with a delegation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) the proposed cooperation plan for the next phase to achieve recovery in the agricultural sector.
The ministry said on its Telegram channel that Minister Badr reviewed the reality of the agricultural sector in Syria, the conditions and challenges it has faced over the past years, and their impact on infrastructure, production, and farmers.
He pointed out that the continuation of agricultural production requires support, in light of declining financial resources, production capacity, and the low technical and technological level of farmers.
The delegation members stressed that Syria is a top priority for the organization in the coming period, and that the plan is open to discussion and amendment in accordance with the vision and priorities of the Ministry of Agriculture, particularly regarding the wheat crop, which is crucial for food security.
