Syrian-Turkish talks to bolster agricultural cooperation between both countries

Damascus, SANA- Syria and Turkey explored Monday ways of boosting agricultural cooperation between the two countries in the fields of irrigation, scientific research, expertise exchange, training and qualification of technical cadres.

That came during a meeting brought together Agriculture Minister Dr. Amjad Bader and charge d’affaires at Turkish Embassy in Damascus, Burhan Koroglu.

Agriculture Minister noted to significant damage that affected the agricultural sector and the need for systematic restoration, particularly irrigation canals in addition to training the technical cadres.

Minister Bader highlighted Syria’s need to address water deficit, particularly in the eastern regions, stressing the importance of agricultural product exchanges in a way that does not impact the needs of the two countries’ local markets.

In turn, Burhan expressed Turkey’s desire to bolster cooperation with Syria in all agricultural fields and to improve the Syrian farmers’ situation.

He underscored his country’s readiness to provide technical, scientific, and logistical assistance that would contribute to the recovery of Syrian agriculture, and its willingness to offer scholarships to train technical cadres of Syrian Agriculture Ministry at Turkish universities.
