Algeria, SANA- President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) and Speaker of the Algerian National People’s Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali, affirmed the importance of Syria’s pivotal role within its Arab environment and expressed full support for efforts to restore Syria to its natural place within the Union.
“Just as his country was keen on Syria’s return to the Arab League, the Arab Parliamentary Union, under the leadership of Algeria, is also keen on keeping its permanent headquarters in Damascus, out of its belief in Syria’s pivotal role and to affirm its support for it until it recovers and returns to its natural place within the union,” Algerian News Agency (APS) quoted Boughali as saying in a press statement on Sunday at the conclusion of the 38th conference of the Arab Parliamentary Union.
He called on Arab parliaments to do their utmost to protect the nation’s interests in light of current regional and international challenges.
