"Maamoul" is the Eid heritage for Syrians

Damascus, SANA- Sweets preparations for Eid begin in most of the Syrian provinces as part of rituals inherited from fathers and grandfathers, which are revived in each city or countryside in their own special way.

It is customary for preparations for Eid to begin a week before the holiday, with markets become noticeably crowded and shops teeming with shoppers buying new clothes and hospitality supplies, including fruits, sweets, and other items, the aroma of cookies and maamoul wafts from homes and neighborhoods, adding a special flavor to the occasion.

Usually, the whole family participates in an atmosphere of intimacy and love in preparing the traditional Eid sweets, such as Maamoul, barazek, ghraybeh, and Eid bread, prepared in simple, handmade ways."Maamoul" is the Eid heritage for Syrians

But maamoul, which the Syrians, in every Eid, used to prepare it with Ajoua (Dates), pistachios, nuts filling, or one of the different kinds of jams such as naranj, citron and they serve it beside Barazek and Ghraybeh which are very famous in Damascus, remains one of the most delicious sweets served to visitors with a cup of coffee.

Preparing Maamoul is very simple that it is made from sugar, flour, ghee, and pistachios, and is shaped like small discs arranged in round trays and sprinkled with powdered sugar.
