Acting Minister of Health emphasizes importance of continuing efforts to improve health services

Damascus-SANA, Dr. Maher al-Sharaa, the Acting Minister of Health, discussed with the central directorates’ managers the current state of work and the plans implemented in hospitals and health centers from liberation until today, along with the challenges and ways to overcome them.

During a meeting held Wednesday at the Ministry, al-Sharaa emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to improve the services provided to citizens, enhancing performance levels, and achieving sustainable development in all aspects.

He stressed the necessity for the Ministry to have accurate statistics, a solid understanding of legal, financial, economic, and public health matters, and attention to fieldwork through routine tours.

The meeting included discussions on achievements, obstacles, and specific plans for medical and technological development, information systems, and human resource development in the health sector.

Plans for primary care and the strategy for primary healthcare for the upcoming period, as well as the operation of hospitals, medical facilities, laboratories, pharmaceutical factories, and their supervision, were also reviewed.

Additionally, the essential needs for work, including medical devices such as dialysis machines, radiological equipment, anesthesia and ventilation devices, specialized medications, as well as human resources, and suggestions that contribute to the improvement of the health sector, were outlined.
