Damascus, SANA- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad al-Shaybani, met Tuesday with Chargé d’Affairs of the European Union Delegation to Syria, Michael Ohnmacht, in Damascus.
Ohnmacht stressed the necessity of strengthening security, peace and the unity and independence of the Syrian lands.
He pointed to the European Union’s support for the peaceful transition of power in Syria while praising what the caretaker government has achieved.
For his part, Minister al-Shaybani underlined the necessity of enhancing the diplomatic relations with the European Union, and turning over a new leaf after the fall of the former regime.
He called for reopening the EU embassies in Syria and activating their role.
