Damascus, Oct. 23 (SANA) Justice Minister Mazhar al-Wais said demonstrations held in several Syrian provinces on Friday constituted a clear popular and legal response condemning Israeli occupation attacks on Syria and incursions into Daraa and Quneitra.
In a post on X on Friday, al-Wais said the large rallies held by Syrians sent a clear and unequivocal national message that Syria would remain united in its land and people, adding that attempts to sow discord and undermine national unity would be thwarted by Syrians’ awareness and solidarity.
The demonstrations also represented a clear popular and legal response and an explicit condemnation of the ongoing crimes and flagrant violations committed by Israeli occupation forces against Syrian territory and people, he said.
Al-Wais cited the latest incident, in which an unarmed person with a disability was killed in what he described as a cowardly attack, calling it a grave crime that disregards the most basic humanitarian values and ethical principles.
The minister stressed that the Syrian people’s steadfastness and solidarity remain the main bulwark protecting Syria’s land and sovereignty. Justice and the rule of law, he added, would continue to serve as the foundation of strength and legitimacy in defending Syria’s rights in all forums.
Earlier on Friday, several Syrian provinces witnessed protest rallies condemning Israeli incursions and attacks in Daraa and Quneitra. Residents, families of victims and relatives of detainees held by Israeli occupation forces during incursions into southern Syria took part.
On Thursday, a young man with a disability was killed by Israeli occupation forces during an incursion into the village of Jamla in western Daraa countryside.
Israeli occupation forces continue to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through repeated incursions into southern Syria, raids on civilian homes, arrests, land bulldozing and attacks involving shells and other weapons.
