Damascus, Oct. 8 (SANA) Internal Security Forces arrested on Thursday Shaheen Hamdan al-Shaheen, one of the founders of the so-called “al-Shawaheen Regiment” militia during the era of the deposed regime, following precise intelligence tracking.
Security records and investigations indicate that al-Shaheen began working with Air Force Intelligence in 2015 under war criminal Suheil al-Hassan, later participating in establishing armed groups on a large scale.
He was directly involved in committing massacres against civilians, notably in the eastern Hama countryside, along the Athriya-Raqqa road in 2017, and in Palmyra and Deir Ezzor up to 2019.
In a related context, Internal Security Forces announced the arrest of four operatives affiliated with the deposed regime involved in severe violations against civilians. Investigations revealed that detainees Nabil Adnan Ismail and Ghazi Mohammad Ismail served as group leaders within Air Force Intelligence militias, participating in kidnappings, looting, and massacres.
Records also showed that detained brothers Taher Youssef al-Mohammad and Talal Youssef al-Mohammad, who served in Air Force Intelligence and the Scientific Studies and Research Center, engaged in repression, arrests, and blackmailing detainees’ families.

Meanwhile, security forces detained two other operatives, Faisal Badour and Asef Salameh.
Badour served within armed militias in Hama and Aleppo countryside in 2012, earning the moniker “Tiger’s Cub” for his brutal treatment of civilians—and remained active until the fall of the deposed regime. Salameh served as a warrant officer in Defense Factories until 2018.
