Deir Ezzor, Oct. 2 (SANA) Syria has begun repairing a gas pipeline damaged in an act of sabotage in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor, the Energy Ministry said Thursday.
Crews from the Syrian Petroleum Company are replacing an 18-meter (59-foot) section of the 16-inch Jbessa pipeline in the al-Shoula area, the ministry said on Telegram.
The repairs are aimed at restoring the pipeline to service and resuming gas transmission, it said.
The Syrian Petroleum Company said the pipeline was damaged on Sept. 28 when an explosive device targeted a sectional valve on the line between al-Shoula and Deir Ezzor, an area that includes infrastructure used for gas production and transmission.
The company has described the incident as sabotage. The original statement did not identify those responsible.
