Damascus, Sept. 14 (SANA) Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Hind Kabawat, joined virtually via online conferencing technology on Monday in a ministerial consultative meeting held as part of the ongoing Arab Labor Conference in Cairo.
The meeting was attended by the labor ministers of Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt, along with ILO Regional Director Ruba Jaradat and representatives from Iraq’s Ministry of Labor.
Discussions addressed priorities, challenges, and ways to enhance regional cooperation. Participants also reviewed the possibility of Damascus hosting the regional tripartite forum for labor stakeholders under the patronage of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor before the end of 2026, in a step aimed at revitalizing Syria’s role within the Arab labor landscape.
The current session of the conference brings together around 530 participants representing the three production parties—governments, employers, and workers—from 21 Arab countries, in addition to representatives of Arab, regional, and international organizations, unions, ambassadors, and public figures concerned with labor and development issues in the Arab region.
