Damascus, Sept. 7 (SANA) The U.S. decision on August 24 to remove Syria from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list after 47 years marks a major turning point, opening broader horizons for diplomatic, economic, and security cooperation while supporting state-building efforts.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani emphasized that this designation removal was the fruit of transformation driven by the Syrian people, reflecting the new Syrian state’s commitment to international peace, security, and partnership with the U.S. and global nations.
Political analyst Nasser Zouhir noted that ending 47 years on the list removes a major historical barrier, signaling a shift in American relations from containment to direct engagement.
