Damascus, Sept. 7 (SANA) The Ministry of Economy and Industry issued a decision Monday establishing the Syrian-Ukrainian Business Council on the Syrian side as part of efforts to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
The ministry said Mohammad Naeem Zeidiya will chair the council, with Mahmoud Halifi Sheikh Mohammad and Amjad Abdul-Rahim Fakhoury as vice chairmen, Samir Khaled Sharkas as secretary-general and Ahmad Ghassan al-Hajji as executive director.
Under the decision, the council will operate in accordance with regulations governing Syria’s joint business councils and will serve as the sole accredited body representing the Syrian side in business relations with Ukraine.
The Syrian Council for Coordinating Joint Business Councils will oversee its activities, coordinate with relevant authorities and ensure its work aligns with national economic priorities.
The decision follows the formation of the Syrian-Cypriot Business Council on August 16 as part of similar efforts to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.
