Idlib, Aug. 21 (SANA) Three civilians were killed and six others, including children, were injured in a house explosion in Ain al-Qasab village near Jisr al-Shughur in western Idlib countryside after midnight Friday, the Civil Defense said.
The dead were a man, his wife and his brother, while the casualty toll remains preliminary.
Ali al-Lari, director of the Jisr al-Shughur Operations Center at the Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate in Idlib, told SANA that Civil Defense teams immediately launched search and rescue operations, provided first aid and transported the injured for medical care.
Al-Lari said initial findings indicated that explosive materials used for fishing and stored inside the house caused the blast.
Dr. Mustafa Baghour, medical director of Jisr al-Shughur Surgical Hospital, said the hospital received a 35-year-old man who died and six injured people, including a woman, a young man with shrapnel wounds, three children and a man in his 50s with chest bruising.
Two children were transferred to neurosurgery at al-Ayadat Surgical Hospital in Idlib city and the third to orthopedics, Baghour said, adding that another young man who died was not transported to the hospital.
