Defense Minister says death sentences mark new victory for Syrians
Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Murhaf Abu Qasra

Damascus, Aug. 12 (SANA) Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Murhaf Abu Qasra said that the death sentences issued on Tuesday against a number of figures from the deposed regime represent a new victory for Syrians.

“Syrians achieved their greatest victory over their executioners when they liberated their country, and today they are also achieving victory through the issuance of justice verdicts against those who killed their sons and displaced them,” Abu Qasra said in a post on the “X” platform.

The defense minister congratulated the Syrian people on this new victory.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Fourth Criminal Court in Damascus, headed by Judge Fakhr al-Din al-Aryan, issued its ruling in the case filed against Atef Najib and a number of fugitive defendants.
