Damascus, July 2 (SANA) An explosion caused by an explosive device struck a café in the Hijaz area of central Damascus on Wednesday, killing 6 people and injuring 22 others, health officials said.

Earlier, Dr. Ahmad al-Bakkour, director of Ambulance and Emergency Services at the Health Ministry, told SANA that 14 people were evacuated from the scene on Al-Nasr Street to Al-Mujtahid Hospital, including four who were pronounced dead and 10 who were injured. One additional injured person was transferred to the Syrian Red Crescent Hospital.

The Interior Ministry said security units launched a field response immediately after the blast, which was caused by an explosive device inside the café.

Internal Security Forces and ambulance teams were dispatched to evacuate the injured and provide emergency medical assistance, while security personnel established a cordon around the area to secure the scene and ensure public safety.
