Damascus, July 1 (SANA) The Higher Committee for Elections has announced the geographic distribution of the final third of the new People’s Assembly, consisting of 70 members appointed by President of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmad al-Sharaa in accordance with his constitutional powers.
Secretary-General of the People’s Assembly, Mohammad Hamza Shammout, said on Monday that Aleppo obtained the largest share with 14 members, followed by Hasaka with 7 members, Deir Ezzor with 6, and Homs with 6.
Damascus, Damascus Countryside, and Hama each gained 5 members, while Latakia was allocated 4 members, Raqqa 3, and Tartous 2.
Shammout added that the southern region received a total of 8 members, distributed as 4 for Daraa, 2 for Quneitra, and 2 for Sweida.
