Damascus, June 22 (SANA) Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabawat met on Monday with Claire Courteille, deputy regional director of the International Labour Organization‘s Regional Office for Arab States, to discuss enhancing the organization’s presence in Syria and expanding cooperation in social affairs and the labor market, the ministry said on Telegram.
The meeting, held at the ministry‘s headquarters, discussed launching joint projects starting next month to support implementation of Decree No. 59 of 2026 on closing camps, securing return areas and preparing infrastructure in destroyed regions, according to the ministry statement.
The two sides also discussed intensifying efforts to remove Syria from the list of countries fostering child labor, as well as activating social dialogue between workers and employers to develop the work environment and strengthen partnerships among relevant parties.
Kabawat met with ILO Director-General Gilbert Houngbo on June 2 on the sidelines of the 114th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva to discuss cooperation in training and employment.
