Damascus, June 22 (SANA) Syria’s Minister of Social Affairs and Labour Hind Kabawat held talks on Sunday with International Organization for Migration (IOM) officials on strengthening cooperation and supporting humanitarian and development work, the ministry said.
The minister met with Othman Belbeisi, IOM Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, and Mohamed Abdelazim, head of the IOM mission in Syria, at the ministry headquarters in Damascus.
According to a statement posted on the ministry’s Telegram channel, the discussions focused on enhancing humanitarian assistance and advancing economic and social recovery initiatives.
Both sides also reviewed approaches to sustainable development and local capacity-building through government-led frameworks involving local communities to ensure lasting impact.
The meeting follows a previous meeting in December last year when the Ministry discussed with IOM representatives the situation of Syrian refugees and mechanisms to facilitate their voluntary return to the country as part of broader efforts to support stability and social reintegration.
