Damascus, June 8 (SANA) Syrian aviation authorities have extended the closure of the country’s southern air corridors and the suspension of operations at Damascus International Airport until 11:00 p.m. local time on Monday, citing ongoing assessments of regional developments and aviation safety risks.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport said the decision followed recommendations by a specialized risk management committee tasked with monitoring the security situation and evaluating its impact on air traffic.
The authority said the measures are intended to ensure the highest levels of aviation safety and security in accordance with international standards.
As a result of the restrictions, Syrian Air announced adjustments to several scheduled services on Monday.
The national carrier said its Damascus-Dubai flight would instead depart from Aleppo International Airport, while a scheduled Jeddah-Damascus service would operate as a Jeddah-Aleppo flight.
Syrian Air said it continues to monitor developments and operational conditions and will inform passengers of any further changes affecting flights and reservations.
The latest measures come amid heightened regional tensions that have disrupted air traffic across parts of the Middle East, prompting several countries and airlines to adjust flight operations and airspace usage.
