Damascus, June.7 (SANA) Internal Security Forces have arrested Sari Moayad Makhlouf on charges of involvement in a number of serious crimes, most notably participation in the al-Bayda massacre in Banias, in addition to armed robbery, looting, kidnapping for ransom, and the theft of vehicles and citizens’ property.
The Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Sunday that preliminary investigations have indicated the suspect’s involvement in managing an international smuggling network in cooperation with the criminals Bashar Talal al-Assad and Hafez Munzer al-Assad.
According to the ministry, investigations showed that the suspect exploited his security position during the deposed regime to conceal criminal activities and provide protection for the network’s operations.
