Damascus, June 1 (SANA) The Syrian Ministry of Energy announced on Monday a further reduction in water discharge through the Euphrates Dam by 200 cubic meters per second, as it closed an additional spillway gate.
In a statement published on its official Telegram channel, the ministry said that, amid continued declines in water inflows from Türkiye, technical teams at the General Authority of the Euphrates Dam had closed spillway gate No. 5, reducing total discharge to 1,200 cubic meters per second.
The ministry noted that only two spillway gates remain operational as part of an ongoing plan aimed at gradually restoring water levels in the Euphrates River in Raqqa and Deir Ezzor provinces to normal levels while ensuring operational safety.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) has begun distributing humanitarian aid to families affected by rising Euphrates River levels in Raqqa province, with relief supplies already reaching 75 families in Hawijat Zahra camp.
According to field assessments, around 600 families across several camps and locations in Raqqa have been affected by recent flooding.
The flooding has prompted continued humanitarian efforts to assist affected communities and mitigate damage to residential and agricultural areas.
