Deir Ezzor, June 01 (SANA) More than 10,000 dunums of agricultural land in Deir Ezzor province, eastern Syria, have been damaged by rising water levels in the Euphrates River, according to Yasser Abboush, a member of the province’s Executive Office responsible for the agriculture sector.

Speaking to SANA’s correspondent during a meeting held at the Directorate of Agriculture on Sunday, Abboush said the affected areas included 772 dunums in al-Mayadeen, 350 in al-Kashkiyah, 650 in al-Sousseh, 750 in Mouhassan, 200 in Dhiban, 2,293 in al-Kharita, 1,238 in Tebni, 1,200 in Mouheimideh, 1,500 in al-Hawijah, 336 in al-Kasrah, and 840 in al-Karama.

Abboush said the meeting focused on assessing the areas affected by the recent flooding in preparation for submitting reports to the damage compensation committee.

He added that participants stressed the need for the Syrian Grain Establishment to provide the logistical support necessary to ensure the movement of personnel between both banks of the Euphrates River and maintain agricultural services.

They also examined ways to maintain agricultural services and facilitate payments to farmers through banking channels and digital payment platforms.
