President al-Sharaa's meeting with the local community in Deir Ezzor - SANA

Deir Ezzor, May 29 (SANA) Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Qutaiba Kadish said Friday that the department accompanied President al-Sharaa, along with several ministers and concerned officials, on a field tour in Deir Ezzor in eastern Syria to directly assess damage caused by flooding of the Euphrates River and evaluate urgent humanitarian and service-sector needs.

In statements to SANA on Friday, Kadish said the delegation also held direct meetings with residents of the city to review conditions on the ground and identify priority requirements linked to relief and recovery operations.

Kadish said the International Cooperation Department had called on all United Nations and international organizations to remain on full alert to ensure a rapid and integrated response aligned with the efforts of national and local institutions operating in the affected areas.

He added that current efforts are focused on delivering urgent relief assistance to affected families while simultaneously addressing losses in agricultural land and livestock sectors to protect livelihoods and support the restoration of development stability in the region.

Kadish said authorities had also prepared a work plan for the next phase centered on rehabilitating damaged vital infrastructure, particularly bridges and water stations, to ensure the return of basic services, restore mobility and safeguard residents in affected areas.
