Damascus, May 21 (SANA) Six people were injured in traffic accidents across Syria over the past 24 hours while Syrian Civil Defense teams responded to 74 emergencies nationwide, the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management said Thursday.
The Ministry said that Civil Defense rescue teams handled 10 traffic accidents in different parts of the country.
The injured received first aid at the scene before being transferred to hospitals for further treatment. Emergency crews also cleared debris and secured the affected areas.
Civil Defense officials urged drivers to reduce speed, ensure vehicles are mechanically safe and avoid distractions such as mobile phone use while driving.
Teams also responded to 64 fires, including 26 incidents in homes and commercial shops and 38 separate fires involving dry grass, garbage and electrical wires.
No injuries were reported in the fires, with damage limited to material losses, according to the statement.
The Civil Defense renewed warnings against burning dry vegetation near homes, agricultural land and forested areas, stressing that discarded cigarette butts and glass containers can contribute to the spread of large fires during hot and dry conditions.
A day earlier, Civil Defense teams responded to 82 fires and traffic accidents across Syria that left eight people injured.
