Damascus, May 20 (SANA) Eight people were injured in traffic accidents across Syria on Tuesday, the Syrian Civil Defense said, as emergency teams responded to 82 incidents nationwide.
The Civil Defense, affiliated with the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, said its teams responded to eight traffic accidents in which eight civilians were injured. The injured received first aid before being transferred to hospitals for treatment, while teams secured the accident sites and cleared debris.
Authorities urged drivers to reduce speed, ensure vehicles are roadworthy, and avoid distractions such as mobile phone use while driving.
Civil Defense teams also responded to 74 fires across the country, including 25 in homes and shops and 49 in open areas involving grass, garbage and electrical wires.
All fires were extinguished without civilian casualties, with damage limited to property, the Civil Defense said.
The agency warned against lighting fires in forests and agricultural areas, discarding cigarette butts or glass containers near crops and woodland, and burning dry grass near roads or residential areas due to the risk of large-scale fires.
A day earlier, 10 people suffered injuries and smoke inhalation in 71 separate incidents, according to the Civil Defense.
