Syrian government releases 232 SDF-linked detainees in Hasakah

Hasakah, May 8 (SANA) The Syrian government released on Friday a new batch of SDF-affiliated individuals who had been detained during law enforcement actions in recent months.

The move comes in coordination with the presidential team tasked with following up the implementation of the 29 January agreement and the Internal Security Command in Hasakah.

Hasakah Deputy Governor Ahmad al-Hilali said 232 detainees were released as part of ongoing implementation of the 29 January agreement, which stipulates the release of all detainees and broader arrangements related to the situation in the province.

Previous releases were carried out on April 11 in Hasakah countryside including detainees held by “SDF” and others previously detained in earlier operations.

Earlier, a delegation from the Ministry of Justice headed by Public Prosecutor Counsellor Hassan al-Turba had taken control of the main court in Hasakah city and the central prison in Ghwayran, as part of measures aimed at reactivating judicial institutions and improving detainee conditions.

The 29 January agreement includes a ceasefire arrangement and understandings on the gradual integration of military and administrative structures, alongside the transfer of civil institutions, crossings, and administrative facilities to state oversight.
