Tartous, May 6 (SANA) Seven workers were injured Wednesday after an oxygen cylinder fell and its valve malfunctioned during maintenance work aboard a ship in the al-Tahoun area near the Tartous waterfront.
A source at the Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate in Tartous said the workers sustained burns caused by exposure to cold gas, in addition to injuries resulting from the falling cylinder.
The source added that Syrian Civil Defense teams were dispatched to the site immediately after the incident was reported, where they provided first aid to the injured workers.
Three of the injured were transferred to Tartous National Hospital for further treatment, while the remaining cases were treated at the scene.
Civil Defense teams continue to respond to emergency calls and provide rescue and emergency services across Tartous governorate.
