Damascus, April 24 (SANA) Justice Minister Mazhar al-Wais said on Friday that the arrest of Amjad Youssef, the main perpetrator of the Tadamon massacre, reflects the state’s firm commitment to accountability and preventing impunity.
Al-Wais said in a post on X on Friday: “Justice will take its course in a way that ensures fairness for victims and preserves their dignity.” He also expressed appreciation for security personnel for their sustained efforts in pursuing those involved and bringing them before the judiciary.
The Interior Ministry had earlier announced the arrest of the primary perpetrator of the Tadamon massacre in Damascus, Amjad Youssef, during a security operation carried out in the countryside of the central province of Hama.
The ministry said it had previously arrested several individuals involved in the 2013 massacre, who confessed to carrying out multiple killings in the neighborhood, in which more than 500 men and women were executed.
