Damascus, April 24 (SANA) Syria’s Justice Minister Mazhar al-Wais inspected the Damascus courthouse on Thursday following the completion of parts of ongoing restoration works, as preparations continue for trials of the deposed regime figures.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice on its Telegram channel, al-Wais reviewed preparations for the fourth criminal court, where proceedings against figures from the ousted regime are set to begin as part of the country’s transitional justice process.
The Public Prosecution has already filed cases against a number of individuals accused of committing violations, referring them to the investigating judge. Those names include Atef Najib, Ahmad Badr al-Din Hassoun, Mohammad al-Shaar, Ibrahim Huwaija and Wassim al-Assad.
The move is part of a broader judicial process aimed at holding accountable those responsible for crimes and serious violations against the Syrian people, while reinforcing the rule of law and advancing transitional justice.
