Hasakah, April 18 (SANA) Spokesperson of the Higher Committee for People’s Assembly Elections, Nawar Najmeh, said on Saturday that the Higher Committee has just arrived in Hasakah to begin the practical procedures and arrangements for the electoral process in the coming days.

“The committee will hold several meetings with the presidential team tasked with following up on the implementation of the January 29 agreement with (SDF), the governor of Hasakah and local activities in the governorate, in preparation for holding the elections in the coming weeks,” Najmeh added.

He affirmed that the recent meeting with Governor of Al-Hasakah and the presidential team was held within a highly positive atmosphere.

Najmeh said the two sides agreed to begin practical steps in the coming days to form subcommittees, which will in turn establish the electoral bodies.

He expressed hope that the success of the electoral process will contribute to strengthening political and social integration in Hasakah province.

Earlier, on February 2–3, 2026, the Higher Committee for People’s Assembly Elections announced plans to complete delayed elections in a number of areas, including Raqqa and Hasakah governorates, as well as Ayn al-Arab in Aleppo countryside.
