Damascus, April 9 (SANA) Syria’s General Authority for Ports and Customs announced the reopening of the Jdeidet Yabous border crossing with Lebanon and the resumption of normal transit operations as of Thursday morning, after the risks that had led to a temporary suspension in recent days were resolved.
In a statement published on its Telegram channel, the Authority said passenger movement has been gradually returning to normal, with increasing numbers of arrivals and departures following the resumption of operations.
It noted that the crossing is operating with high readiness and organized procedures aimed at ensuring smooth transit and the safety of travelers, adding that staff are providing necessary assistance around the clock.
The Authority affirmed that the crossing will continue to operate within established civil and legal frameworks, with all necessary measures in place to ensure the safety of passengers and facilitate efficient entry and exit procedures.
It also called on travelers to comply with instructions issued by the crossing’s management to help ensure smooth operations.
Earlier, the Lebanese Council of Ministers announced that the Masnaa border crossing would reopen at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, with tightened measures to ensure the safety of passenger and cargo movement and to prevent smuggling, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.
The reopening follows recent tensions after the Israeli occupation army threatened to target the road leading to the Masnaa crossing, alleging that Hezbollah uses the crossing for military purposes.
Syrian authorities had temporarily suspended transit through Jdeidet Yabous, stressing that the crossing is designated exclusively for civilian use and is not used for any military purposes or by armed groups.
