Damascus, April 8 (SANA) Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani participated via video conference in a ministerial session organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
The session focused on following up on the repercussions of the ongoing crisis on sustainable developments in the Arab region and identifying priority areas of support required at this stage.
Discussions addressed the broader economic and social impacts of regional instability, including its effects on trade, energy markets and development prospects across Arab countries.
ESCWA reports have highlighted, back in February, that geopolitical tensions and conflicts continue to pose major challenges to sustainable development in the region, despite signs of gradual economic recovery.
Participants stressed the importance of coordinated regional and international efforts to mitigate these impacts and support countries facing economic and humanitarian pressures.
