Homs, April 1 (SANA) The Cathedral of the Virgin Mary Um Al-Zenar in Homs hosted a chanting evening titled “I Come to You” on Tuesday, featuring the cathedral choir alongside guest musicians as part of celebrations for the Christian holiday season.
Hymns performed in Arabic and Syriac reflected themes of love, peace and hope associated with the occasion, held at one of Syria’s prominent religious landmarks.
Father Michael Al-Khalil, priest of the cathedral, said the recital embodied the spiritual meanings of Holy Week, beginning with Palm Sunday.
Choir director Iskandar Yeshua noted that the event, held at the transition from March to April, coincides with the arrival of spring and the start of the festive period, adding that the program included diverse performances, including participation by a singer from Al-Qahtaniyah in the Syrian Jazira.
Music director George Al-Dawi said the evening highlighted the significance of the Passion of Christ and Easter, promoting a message of hope for peace and stability in Syria.
The Cathedral of the Virgin Mary Um Al-Zenar is among Syria’s notable historical and religious sites, hosting cultural and spiritual events throughout the year that contribute to community cohesion.
