Damascus, March 29 (SANA) The Syrian Arab Army has uncovered a smuggling tunnel along the Syrian-Lebanese border, the Ministry of Defense said on Sunday.
The ministry’s Media and Communications Department said the tunnel, which was operated by Lebanese militia groups, was discovered as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen border security.
It added that the tunnel was sealed by specialized units.
The discovery marks the second such tunnel found within 24 hours, as authorities step up measures to combat smuggling activities along the border.
The operation comes as the Syrian Arab Army continues efforts to tighten control in border areas, where smuggling remains an ongoing challenge.
