Hasakah, March 19 (SANA) A total of 300 detainees were released today from SDF-run prisons in Qamishli and Hasakah, and transferred to the town of al-Shaddadi, as part of efforts by the presidential team overseeing the implementation of the Jan. 29 agreement with the SDF.
The operation also included the release of 300 SDF-affiliated individuals who had been detained during law enforcement actions in recent months.
Presidential team spokesperson Ahmed al-Hilali told SANA that release operations will continue until all prisons are cleared and the detainee file is closed, noting that the state will assume management of SDF prisons in Hasakah and will release all SDF affiliates in upcoming operations.
Earlier today, presidential envoy, Brig. Gen. Ziad al-Ayesh, reaffirmed that the detainee file is a special priority, with continued efforts to release remaining detainees and determine the fate of missing persons in the near future.
On Jan. 29, the Syrian government announced an agreement with the SDF on a ceasefire, a phased integration of military and administrative forces, the entry of security forces into the centers of Hasakah and Qamishli, and the handover of all civil and governmental institutions, crossings, and border points to the state.
