Damascus, March 1 (SANA) Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport said it had extended the closure of the country’s airspace to all aircraft, along with the suspension of takeoffs and landings at all Syrian airports, for 24 hours starting at 00:00 on Sunday, March 1, 2026, Damascus time.
In a statement, the authority said the decision was taken in line with aviation safety and civil aviation security standards, based on ongoing operational and technical assessments conducted by relevant bodies.
The authority said developments would be monitored around the clock during the closure period and that any updates or further decisions would be announced through official channels to ensure the safety of air traffic within Syrian airspace.
Earlier Saturday, the authority had announced the temporary closure of southern air corridors for 12 hours.
The measures come amid escalating regional tensions following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and subsequent Iranian missile and drone attacks on Israel and several Arab countries.
