Raqqa, Feb. 24 (SANA)The Commander of Internal Security in Raqqa Province, Colonel Rami al-Taha, announced on Tuesday that security units have executed a series of qualitative and simultaneous tactical operations. These missions were launched in the wake of two recent terrorist aggressions targeting a security checkpoint west of Raqqa city.
In a statement published by the Ministry of Interior via Telegram, Colonel al-Taha explained that following the terrorist attacks over the past two days—which resulted in the martyrdom of four personnel and the injury of others—security units acted upon precise intelligence and intensive surveillance. At dawn today, specialized units carried out coordinated strikes against the responsible cell.
The Colonel confirmed that the operations resulted in the neutralization of the leader of the terrorist cell affiliated with “ISIS”, who was directly responsible for orchestrating the attacks. Additionally, one operative was neutralized, and four other members of the cell were arrested. Security forces also seized a cache of weapons and ammunition found in their possession.
Colonel al-Taha underscored that sweeping operations in the region are ongoing, alongside the reinforcement of preventative measures at all checkpoints and security centers. He emphasized that these actions are vital to safeguarding the security of citizens and national stability, vowing to pursue any elements attempting to compromise the safety or sovereignty of the homeland.
This decisive response follows the events of Monday, where Internal Security Forces successfully thwarted an ISIS assault on a checkpoint west of the city.
