Damascus, Feb.19 (SANA) Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Hind Kabawat, discussed with the International Labor Organization Director-General’s Special Envoy, Konstantinos Papadakis, and the ILO Regional Coordinator for Syria, Mohammad Anas Al-Sabaa, the situation of Syrian workers in the occupied Syrian Golan.
The meeting, which also comprised Governor of Quneitra, Ahmad Al-Dalati, took place at the Ministry building on Thursday.
The discussions focused on key issues concerning the situation of Syrian workers in the Golan, as part of the preparation of the annual report on the conditions of workers in the occupied Arab territories, including the Golan.
The meeting also addressed the difficulties and violations those workers face in various areas, particularly the racist and discriminatory practices of the Israeli occupation authorities and the denial of their basic rights.
Last December, the United Nations News Centre quoted the organization’s spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, as saying: “The residents of the Golan continue to protest in front of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) against the presence and actions of the Israeli army there.”
