Aid reaches 1,500 flood-affected families in Hama countryside

Hama, Feb.09 (SANA) The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) distributed emergency relief assistance on Monday to families affected by flash floods caused by a recent rainstorm in Qal‘at al-Madiq and surrounding areas of the Hama countryside.

Ayman Junaid, head of the Relief Department at the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor, said the aid reached 1,500 of the most affected families, out of a total of 4,000 families impacted in the town. He added that additional relief items will be provided if more supplies become available.

Similar assistance will be delivered to flood-affected families in Mhardeh, Masyaf and Salamiyah, also in the Hama countryside.

Shadi al-Turk, head of the community committee in Qal‘at al-Madiq, said current supplies remain insufficient, calling on humanitarian organizations and charities to increase support, particularly for repairing damaged homes.

Over the past two days, the al-Ghab area in the Hama countryside was hit by a severe rainstorm that caused significant damage to the homes and tents of returning residents, flooded agricultural land, blocked roads and overwhelmed drainage and irrigation channels
