Sweida, Feb. 8 (SANA) Internal security forces in Sweida province have detained a suspect and launched a formal investigation following a deadly crime that left four citizens dead and a fifth critically wounded in the al-Metouna area of Sweida countryside on Saturday.

The commander of Internal Security in Sweida, Brig. Gen. Hossam al-Tahhan, said in a statement that the Criminal Investigation Department moved immediately after the incident to pursue those responsible, clarify the circumstances of the crime and take the necessary legal measures.

Al-Tahhan said preliminary investigations, conducted in cooperation with one of the survivors of the attack, led to suspicion of a member of the Internal Security Directorate in the area. The suspect was promptly arrested and referred to judicial investigation to complete all legal procedures.

He stressed that the Internal Security Command rejects any violation against citizens and will not tolerate acts that threaten public security and safety, reaffirming its commitment to protecting civilians and holding accountable anyone proven to be involved, regardless of affiliation.
