Aleppo, Feb. 6 (SANA) Engineering units of the Syrian Arab Army continue mine-clearing operations in villages surrounding Tishreen Dam in eastern Aleppo countryside, as part of efforts to secure areas and enable residents’ safe return.
Commander of the mine-clearing battalion in the Army’s 60th Division, Saleh al-Aboud Shibat, told SANA that operations are currently focused on the Tishreen Dam area to prepare it for civilian return. Advanced equipment and high-precision technologies, including mine-clearing vehicles and modern scanning devices, are being used to ensure the work is carried out safely and accurately.
Residents of Qashlat Youssef Pasha village said the widespread presence of mines and unexploded ordnance left by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has delayed their return. They expressed appreciation for the army’s engineering teams, noting that mine removal is a critical step toward restoring normal life.
The operations are part of broader efforts by the Syrian Arab Army to remove war remnants and secure areas recently recovered from the SDF, paving the way for civilian return and local recovery.
