New York, Feb. 3 (SANA) Syria has assumed the chairmanship of the Arab Group at the United Nations in New York for the current term, its UN mission said.
In a post on the X platform, Syria’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations said the country had taken over the rotating position.
The mission said Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Olabi, met with Maged Abdelfattah Abdelaziz, the new Permanent Observer for the League of Arab States at the United Nations, to discuss the group’s priorities for the coming month and ways to strengthen coordination among member states.
The Arab Group at the United Nations includes all members of the League of Arab States and works to coordinate positions on political, humanitarian, legal and development issues on the UN agenda.
