Homs, Feb. 2 (SANA) The Homs City Council, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has launched a wide-ranging campaign to remove rubble from damaged neighborhoods across the city, the council said on Monday.
Engineer Samer al-Mohammad, a supervisor at the council’s Directorate of Public Works, told SANA that the campaign, which began at the old bus station square in the al-Qusour area, will cover 13 neighborhoods, including Deir Baalbeh, Khalidiya, Baba Amr, Karm Shamshem, Karm al-Zaytoun, al-Nazihin, Ashira and Jeb al-Jandali.

He said the campaign aims to accelerate debris removal, improve basic services and enhance the visual appearance of affected neighborhoods, stressing the importance of cooperation between government bodies and international organizations.
Residents told SANA that clearing rubble would help ease movement in their neighborhoods and encourage displaced people to return to their homes.
The campaign also seeks to create a safer and cleaner environment and rehabilitate damaged infrastructure destroyed under the defunct regime, paving the way for sustainable reconstruction.
