Quneitra, Jan. 28 (SANA) Israeli forces advanced early Wednesday into several areas in the southern countryside of Quneitra province, in southwestern Syria.
SANA’s reporter in Quneitra said that one Israeli unit, consisting of three military vehicles, moved west of the village of Sayda al-Hanut and established a checkpoint. A second unit of four vehicles advanced between the villages of al-Razzaniyah and Sayda al-Hanut, where it also established a checkpoint.
On Tuesday, Israeli forces entered the Old City of Quneitra, demolishing the remains of several houses and damaging nearby buildings close to al-Arab Mosque. Meanwhile, Israeli aircraft sprayed agricultural land west of Abu Mazarah farm and near the village of al-Hanut with unidentified substances.
Israel has continued its incursions into southern Syria, carrying out raids, arbitrary arrests, forced displacement, and land leveling that affects civilians, in violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
Syria has repeatedly demanded the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Syrian territory, stressing that Israel’s actions in southern Syria are null and void under international law. Syria has also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities, deter such practices, and ensure a full withdrawal from southern Syria.
