Damascus, Jan. 18 (SANA) President Ahmad Al-Sharaa emphasized on Sunday that “the Syrian state is unified and centralized in decision-making, and its institutions will enter all Syrian territories and manage all regional affairs. In areas with special characteristics, security personnel will be appointed from local residents.”
The statement was during a press conference held after signing the ceasefire and full integration agreement.
Regarding his scheduled meeting with SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi, al-Sharaa stated, “We were to meet with Mazloum Abdi, but the meeting was postponed to tomorrow due to adverse weather conditions.”
He added, “We advise our Arab tribes to maintain calm and allow the implementation of the agreement,” noting that the three provinces now have a prepared environment for holding parliamentary elections and participating in representation like other provinces.
The agreement signed by President al-Sharaa outlines an immediate, comprehensive ceasefire on all fronts and contact points between Syrian government forces and the SDF. Concurrently, all SDF military formations will withdraw to the area east of the Euphrates as a preparatory step for redeployment.
