Damascus, Jan. 9 (SANA) The Syrian Ministry of Information strongly condemned the targeting of journalists by the SDF organization while carrying out their media duties in Aleppo, which resulted in the injury of five media colleagues.
The ministry said, in a statement on Thursday, this attack constitutes a blatant violation of press freedom and media rights, as well as of international law principles prohibiting the targeting of media crews during armed conflicts.
It noted that this assault was an attempt by the SDF organization to silence voices and conceal the truth from the public. It strongly denounced the criminal act, stressing that press freedom is a fundamental right that must be protected under all circumstances.
The ministry called on the international community and global press organizations to condemn this criminal behavior by the SDF organization, to hold them accountable and bring them to justice, and to take necessary measures to protect journalists. It expressed its full commitment to supporting press freedom and standing by journalists in the face of any threats or targeting.
